Deriving from the modification of the Act XCIII/1993 on Occupational Safety and Health (entered into force on 8th July 2016), election of workers’ representative for occupational safety became obligatory at all employers with at least twenty employees.

In order to make the the industry prepared for the requested changes, we formed a consortium with our employee representative association, VISZ (Trade Union of Hotel, Catering and Tourism) and Business Hungary (MGYOSZ) and sucessfully implemented a project in 2017-2018 aiming the development of the occupational health and safety in tourism and catering sector (GINOP – 5.3.4-16).

In the frame of the project we updated and designed occupational safety publications and tools (templates, posters, videos) for employers and employees taking into account sector specific needs. We also held trainings and organized a road-show throughout the country in order disseminate the results and the prepared materials. The whole project was based on a comprehensive survey about occupational safety and health of the sector.
