The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), in partnership with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), has announced a program called Destination Tracker in preparation for the resumption of international travel.

The initiative aims to streght confidence and accelerate the recovery of the tourism sector by reopening the borders. The Destination Tracker is a new, free online tool (available through the websites of both organizations) for governments which provides information on Covid-19 travel requirements and measures implemented at the destination.

The tool will provide information on:

  • Health Indicators
    • COVID-19 14-day notification rate per 100,000 population
    • Test positivity rate
    • People Vaccinated per 100
  • Current Air Travel Regulations
    • Flight suspensions
    • Entry restrictions
    • Quarantine
    • Restriction level
    • COVID-19 test
  • Destination-specific Restrictions
    • Attractions
    • Events
    • Facilities
    • Accommodation
    • Food and Drinks
    • Transit through the country
    • Public transport
    • Stay-at-home requirements
  • Health Regulations
    • Health Protocols
    • Mask policies

The “Destination Tracker” meets a key need by clarifying Covid-19’s measures for tourism, easing the situation for travelers, as every third destination remains closed to tourists, according to UNWTO.
